As much as I dislike these things, I made a promise to myself to learn a new skill: oil painting. To keep myself motivated I am to complete a painting a month (I haven't stipulated how good the painting has to be)! I couldn't wait to get started and for January I possibly started with one of the most difficult types of painting: a self portrait from my reflection. I enjoyed the challenge; it is such a different process from drawing, painting in blocks and slowly manipulating the paint with finer strokes to get the detail gradually. Here is the end result.
