Painting the figure outside

This summer I enrolled on a wonderful course at West Dean College, 'painting the figure outside'. It was my first time painting en plein air and it was a big learning curve. There is an art in itself. remembered everything you need to carry outside with you before you even begin to paint! There are a lot of added complexities such as the weather and the ever changing light but the rewards are worth it! I was lucky to be painting with such a convivial group which I am sure will carry on being good friends after the course is over.
